Schools
Schools are excellent. The school systems in most areas in which Covenant Health facilities are located have achievement scores above state averages. Offspring magazine listed one system among the top 100 in the country and number two in the South. Newsweek ranked the same system among the top 250 based on the number of graduating seniors taking advanced placement courses.
There are also dozens of private schools from pre-school Montessori to outstanding K-12 college preparatory schools with 100% college admission rates.
The area has four community colleges and ten four-year institutions. The University of Tennessee at Knoxville has 20,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students in 234 degree programs. The Tennessee Hope Scholarship program provides non-needs-based scholarships of $3,300 a year to all area high school graduates with at least a B average who attend a Tennessee college or university.
